Photography Course Feedback

A while back I had been invited to lead a short course with Signal Films in Barrow – in – Furness, Kate Marshall had dropped me an email and we got to talking… and the project was right up my street and I had never taught anyone before other than friends and co workers so .. to do it for two weeks quite a challenge, and to do it for a handfull of teenagers … anyway, during the two weeks we covered soem fundamentals with camera’s and light but I defiantly saw more response in the photoshop 101 I imagine those Nikon D80′s might be a little intimidating for someone who may only have a phone as a camera, when it came to cleaning up images there was a clear trend, the girls wanted to ‘pretty up’ and the guys wanted to ‘pretty down’ having covered areas I thought would add the most value to them … we then finnished off with creating a small webpage with Adobe Fireworks and gave an overview on my thoughts on placing text on images and what photo’s are good for it and why.

Hi Kate,

I just wanted to say a quick thank you for the photography course you guys have been running over the last couple of weeks.

John was an excellent tutor, and I have learnt a lot, more then I thought would be possible in the relatively short time the course ran. John took time out to help me, and let me tag along on some of his own work. The insight, experience and confidence he exudes is really transcendental and I’m in a much better place then I was, going for photography courses at Uni.

Yeah, so thanks a lot for providing this opportunity, I wish I’d known about the stuff you’re on with when I was younger. I hope everything goes well for signal and I look forward to maybe working with you again in the future,

Hi Kate

Just a thank you for giving Thomas the opportunity to take part in the photography course with John Carroll.

Tom has really enjoyed the course, as I know he will say himself, in fact he does not want the week to end. He has learnt a lot from John who has gone out of his way to help the group and obviously put in lots of extra work, so please thank him too.

Thom has not only gained lots of extra skills but this has been a real boost for his confidence, even if he does now want an Apple Mac Computer!

Everyone has been so helpful and friendly, I hope signal films has lots of continued success.
